President Abdel Fattah El Sisi hailed the deeply-rooted relations between the Egyptian and Tanzanian peoples. This came during a press conference that was held with his Tanzanian counterpart John Magufuli on Monday.

The president pointed to the two Egyptian and Tanzanian leaders Gamal Abdel Nasser and Julius Nyerere, who led Africa’s quest for uniting the African Continent and protecting Africans’ right on various international arenas.

Sisi also underlined that Egypt and Tanzania are looking forward to fulfilling their peoples’ aspirations including reaching overall and sustainable development.

President Sisi highlighted his keenness on doubling the volume of trade and investments between Egypt and Tanzania as well as boosting cooperation in the domains of agriculture, industry, medicine, energy and mineral resources.

The President also pointed out that a number of Egyptian companies are already working in Tanzania in the fields of construction, engineering consultancy and infrastructure as well as capacity building and expertise exchange.

Sisi also hailed his Tanzanian counterpart John Magufuli’s efforts in combating corruption as well as enhancing Tanzania’s administrative performance.

The President expressed his appreciation for Tanzania and its president’s role to preserve peace and security in the African Continent especially the African Great Lakes, and for former President Benjamin Mkapa’s efforts to facilitate national dialogue in Burundi, and Tanzanian government’s burdens in dealing with the flowing refugees due to the crises in the area.

Sisi invited Magufuli to visit Egypt to continue talks concerning boosting bilateral ties. He added that the joint committee meetings will be resumed soon to implement the outcome of the two leaders’ talks.
